How To Change Your Life (without pushing yourself)

I am going through a phase of change. Not only did I switch my place of living, but I am going through a change that runs deep under the skin. Owing to that, I have a ton of things going on inside and around me. I need to wait out this paradigm shift and feel some ground before I decide where it is that I have come to. That is exactly my topic of discussion today.

Change. It is a one word bomb that will set most people to unrest. Whether the impending change is good or bad for us, only time will tell, but most of it is based on common sense. Literally. While we may not possess the power to foresee our future, God has equipped us with a little piece of magic called "common sense". No pun intended. Your common sense and a basic general knowledge of the things surrounding your point of concern will go a long way.

Disney Princesses Are Real!!

Princess Jasmine
Remember those Disney princesses back from your childhood? Every little girl was obsessed with them. Even after all these years, their kiddy charm is still there because they remind of the little girl we once were. You can't deny, there was once a time in our childhood when we all solemnly believed that these Disney princesses are real and very much alive, yet we couldn't find any trace of them. Today, what would it be lie to come across a Disney princess in real life?

Here's a real life version of what Disney princesses would have looked like, had they been real.

Cute Sayings By The Cookie Monster

Cookie Monster Quotes - C is for Cookie
source: wikipedia
Cookie Monster is a Muppet on the children's television show Sesame Street. He is best known for his voracious appetite and his famous eating phrases: "Me want cookie!", "Me eat cookie!", and "Om nom nom nom" (said through a mouth full of food). He often eats anything and everything, including danishes, donuts, lettuce, apples, bananas, as well as normally inedible objects. However, as his name suggests, his preferred food is cookies. Chocolate chip cookies are his favorite kind; oatmeal cookies are his second favorite.

12 Easy Steps Towards a Professional Job Application

Writing an impressive resume is the first step in making a good mark on your probable future employers. If you want to bag the job of your dreams, you need to know the art of conveying your skills and experience in an effective and concise way. Unfortunately, not many are aware of the small mistakes, which when avoided, can shape their resume/CV into something that the market is looking for.

Follow these simple steps to have the refined resume you have always wanted.
  1. Don’t use display picture. It is not required at all in a professional resume.
  2. Be a Professional: Use professional language. This includes introducing a professional email address, without any funny and unprofessional terms, and don’t use a font larger than 10. However, your name should be the title of the document, so it should be in a much larger font to make it visible, e.g. font size 18.
  3. Use correct language: There must not be any grammatical mistakes, and try to use the document writing features of MS Word. Your document should have uniform font pattern, sequential alignments and all headings should be in the same font and size.
  4. Avoiding too many details: Avoid useless details. Try to summarize the content in simple English, no flowery language required, and the length of your resume should be 1-2 pages only.
  5. Experience always counts: If you are experienced, no matter how short your experience is, then the practical experience should always come before the educational details, with your most recent experience on the top and your first experience in the end.
  6. Font: Use a professional font, preferably Arial or Times New Roman.
  7. Personal Details; To give or not to give: No personal details required such as marital status, ID card number and father name etc.
  8. Use Bullets: Try to add your professional experience details in bullets. Avoid lengthy paragraphs, no one reads them.
  9. General Sequence of Sections: Ideal sequence should be: Title (including name and contact information), Objective (single sentence), Professional Achievements (if there are any genuine), Professional Experience details, Education details, Any certifications or Trainings, References.
  10. Know the Employers' Requirements: ALWAYS: trim your resume according to the requirements mentioned in the job that is advertised. Never send the same copy to every job blindly.
  11. Don't Bug the Recruiter with Reminders: Don’t bother the recruiter with reminder emails every now and then. He already has your resume. If it has his required material, he will contact you himself. Give him some space.
  12. Know your value: Never de-value yourself by sending your resume to EVERY advertised job on the internet or print media. Choose the relevant ads only.

You're Searching So Hard, You've Lost Yourself

And isn't it so? You look for yourself every where, trying to put your finger on that lost thread of memory and just when you do, it slips away. Train journeys are romantic, like that movie where a boy meets girl on a train journey that lasts a whole night and when they part ways in the morning, they become the best of friends. The number of compartments with people unknown, the wonderful probability that one of them knows you in some spiritual, magical sort of way. We expect others to complete us. But why?

I've learnt to stop searching for perfect happiness. Do not tire yourself with it, let it come to you. All you can do is not to hold it out. Embrace it with open arms and rid your heart of the fear of any hurt. Those who dare to keep their hearts out in the wild find happiness as a rapturous adventure.

Stop looking. It will come.

Arabian Nights

{ Muscat, Old City }

It's weekend here in Oman and my favorite day of the week when we go out and gorge on anything we feel like eating. Wednesday means two days off the gym and I allow myself to eat gulab jamans too. I love this place because of its peaceful, quiet environment but mostly because its where my husband is. Anywhere is a home where he is. He has this amazing ability to make even an otherwise mundane drive into an extreme bit of an adventure.

I'm unable to write these days, not because I am out of ideas, but because I am so much full of them that I am unable to pick one. My mind keeps on wandering to every thing so fast I find it hard to make my little heart sit still and focus on one thing.

I'm discovering Oman all over again. I'm not sure if a social and extrovert would find it as good as I do sometimes, I'm more of an introvert. This is the perfect place to just stand still for some time, breathe in and enjoy a certain delicious laziness.

God: A Love Born of Faith

When do you know someone is listening to your prayers? When was the last time you knew the sorrow you carried in your fragile heart was incurable by every single doctor, surgeon or expert that walks on the face of this planet? Some things are granted by God alone. Like hearing the unsaid, like ridding your heart of fear, like giving you the strength of staying strong, like gifting you the courage to say the bitter truth, like holding your heart when it can easily turn cold, like holding you by your finger and it becomes your lifeline to sanity... like cradling you through nights no one knows you've cried. God and God alone lets you be the best you can be.

And likewise, some things only God knows. He gives you a protected life as a child, with loving parents who watch over you and protect you from all troubles. And when you grow up, God gives you one little bump at a time till you have wings to fly, till your faith becomes so strong you needn't anything else. God and God alone shapes you in the person you are meant to be by teaching you, showing you, loving you, testing you and then rewarding you.

My faith in people has been shaken not because people were untrustworthy, but because only one faith exists in this Universe and that is the faith in Allah. You and I may have different notions for what that Higher Being is but we all look in the same direction, we all look for the same faith, at the same sky. When my heart could turn icy cold, He held in in His Mighty Hands and kept it warm so many painful times. The thinnest chord that led me to Him was the strongest. He taught me, showed me, tested me and then, I believe, He decided to reward me. My heart blooms with His warmth. My faith in Him is my lifeline.

I wish you all a life of Faith, Belief, Love and Miracle that only God can create. Stay blessed.

Find Yourself, Baby

It feels like the whole world is bare open before my eyes for me to look and understand and take it in. I've always lived in a protected shell, and ended up being conned in the very place I called home. My heart leaps outward and my eyes search elsewhere. I'm looking at bigger plans, better people and a place of my own, sought out of my very own effort. The challenges only make you stronger, the set backs make you better and a loved one's treachery only makes you a better fighter. So go find yourself. Ah, this map just makes my heart swoon with delight. Just look at this huge space filled with opportunities and swarming with wonderful, wonderful, wonderful people! Look at all the places you can go sight seeing to, all the people you can meet and so much knowledge still left for you to absorb. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to 2012. Let this year leave you with a better, braver, happier person. Happiness is not around you, it's inside you; why are you straying elsewhere? I'm on a roller coaster ride. How many people actually get a second chance at life? And do you know the key to living the best way? Don't let that beautiful heart of yours carry hate and malice. It's meant to hold love and tenderness. Don't lose that. Don't lose God's Personal Touch in you.

Break Out of the Normal

Normalcy isn't good for writers. In order to find the extraordinary out of the ordinary, a writer must see beyond the canvas of normalcy. He must possess an eye for the special, he must feel emotions in a new paradigm to be able to make out the best in them for all the world to see. His words should be easy, yet the picture he creates should break the barriers of what and how words can impact. A write should be anything but normal; and that is why he is a complete package. Special, brilliant, sensitive; he touches your heart not every one can.
